After reading the review "New, Faster, Quieter:
The Seagate Barracuda 7200.8" http://www20.tomshardware.com/storage/20050317/index.html and being in the process of building a new pc I can't seem to figure out if I'm getting one of the new and quieter models, so I hope some one in this forum can help me out here :)

The one I want to buy is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 250GB (SATA / 7200RPM / 8MB) It has the number:ST3250823AS, but in the review the number on the drives end with ST3300832A or ST3400831A not AS so I'm not sure it's one of the latest models, as I have read that the later ones is very loud, and nothing like the one I have in my pc now ST3120026A that happens to very quiet, and is the reason I stick to Seagate hard drives (after buying my first fluid Maxtor, and finding out it was a really noisy bastard) :)

Can someone please help me find the right number for the newest 7200.8 250GB SATA drive, so I am sure I get the right (quiet) one?

Thanks.

As long as the description says 7200.8 you are getting the right series of HDD. The different part numbers are primarily due to size of the HDD in question. Do you have a link to the HDD you are thinking about buying?

Here is a link to a <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=22-148-065&depa=0" target="_new">7200.8 Seagate 250GB</A>
