Hi,

I'm curious about monitors and their alleged slowness. Let’s say that at best, a super human can see full 100 frames a second. That gives our super human 10ms seeing response time.

And i’m being very generous to our super human here, as I very much doubt most humans can see even half of that.

Now if anyone would be kind enough to tell me, where am I wrong and/or why do I care if a monitor has only 5ms response time? How is 2ms better if our model super human can see only 10ms?

Not really sure how LCD panel and LCD monitor manufacturers determines what "response times" to advertise, but the advertised response time is merely an ideal number.

These using high speed cameras, oscilloscopes and other hardware used to measure response times have shown "2ms" and "5ms" monitors can be as slow as 50ms and about 15ms - 25ms on average (different for each LCD model).

The worst case scenario is when there is a black object moving against a white background. You will see extreme ghosting issues even on a fast monitor because pixels are being turned on and off instead of simply shifting colors.
