prince o persia warrior within......

hello,
i reccently purchased pop warrior within, and im having trouble playing it.
the game installed fine with no problems, however when im come to play the
game i can only get as far as starting a new game, it starts to load up and
then i either get an error message saying the game stopped responding, or i
get an error message saying the game ended unexpectedly, ive tried everything
i can think of, but it still crashes, ive checked and double checked my
system settings and they exceed whats needed to play the game, but it still
doesnt work.
i would be grateful for any ideas anyone has ?
