Hello

Okay my laptop used to work perfectly and I could even leave it without the battery just the power cable, but about a week ago I cannot turn the laptop on with only the power cable cannected I also have to insert the battery and regardless of the power cable the battery still dies slowly and it cannot charge. If I disconnect the power cable it dies in just a few minutes. My question is can my hard drive do this? I have a Momentus 5400.3 ST980811AS 80GB I dont know if it matters or not

Thank you for reading this and I hope you can help

Does your HDD drain battery life? Yes, it requires power from the battery to run. Will it some how destroy your battery? No, it shouldn't. There is most likely something wrong with a connection on the laptop's motherboard which means you will have to either get it fixed by the manufacturer or get it fixed at a PC repair shop.

I'd say there is a chance that the battery is just dead, but even then the laptop should still run while plugged into the wall.
