[painting] re-basing a mini

Hi group,

Just a quick question, I painted two of a Mordheim warband with a green
base, and then applyed a clear mat gloss spraycan coat over the top of the
mini and base.

The bind now is that I want to change the bases... Can I just paint over the
top of the clear coat, and then reapply another clear coat when I am done?

What suggestions can you provide?

That should be fine. I've touched up many figures I painted long ago,
before I bothered with primers, and none of the sealers I've used in the
past have resisted a new coat of paint.
