I bought a Lite-on SOHW-812S a couple of years ago and recently updated the firmware to US0Q (don't remember what it was before though). Anyway, since that time, My maxell discs (I have DVD+RW and DVD-R) do not work anymore on my DVD burner (though Philipps DVD-R do work). What happens is that after a burn a disc with Nero, the verification fails 99% of the time but it worked perfectly with those discs before the firmware update.
Any idea what I could do ?

hey, i just got my hands on an 802s and bought some cheap staples media which didn't work at first. did some research and flashed it to an 832s w/ firmware that i found here, http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html making it a DL burner and supposedly better quality burns. the 812 is supposed to have the same hardware and can use this firmware also. i realize DL is a novelty but it might be worth a try to use the 832 firmware as it lets me burn the cheap staples media.

it worked perfectly with those discs before the firmware update.
Rule of thumb: Don't be flashing these firmwares just to be doing it. Do it only when you really have a problem and you have talked to others and know this flash has a good chance of correcting your problem.

However, in your case you now have a real problem. Do a lot of reading here; http://club.cdfreaks.com/ before doing anything...
