Hello.

I have a TV connected to my pc. The TV is connected to my video card with a HDMI cable in the TV. The HDMI cable however, has a DVI adapter going into the video card. There is no sound from the TV. I have to play the sound through my small speakers which are next to the pc, not the TV. Do you need HDMI to HDMI to have the sound from the TV speakers play?

Thanks in advance.

You need a direct HDMI to HDMI connection.

A DVI adaptor will only send video signals.

Lastly, the video card itself must have audio support circuitry built-in. I believe current ATI video card does support sound, but I'm not sure about nVidia latest generation of cards.

Current ATI HD3k and 4k cards support sound over HDMI, and seeing as they have no HDMI port, they support it over an adapter (HDMI-DVI).
