why does everyone talk always about newegg?!?!?! all of you should get your pom-pom's out and yell out N-E-W-E-G-G N-E-W-E-G-G!!

Seriously... newegg isn't THE ONLY online computer shop. So why would you all have to like "endorse" it or something???

I'n my case i would go for it because the place is so darn close to me that if i ever get a messed up order, or a damaged good, or don't get an order at all, i can literally go there in like 9 min. driving and tell that what happened personally. But i don't think all of you live near La Puente, CA in USA.... or am i wrong?? Even if you all did live there, (like i said above) newegg isn't THE ONLY place to shop. It's like saying get windows 9x or xp when we also have linux (linux here representing the minority).

Think outside of the box guys!!! all of your pc shopping needs doesn't revolve solely on 1 website.

The greatest risk of all is not taking one!
Edited by JPWRana on 09/09/02 03:04 AM.

JPWRana, appearantly you have little to no experience dealing with online computer part purchases. A large amount of time orders get shipped considerably later than they should. A fairly annoying percentage of the time, you get either a faulty part or the wrong part entirely. And then, there is of course the truely outrageous prices that an unfortunately large number of computer shops (online or not) have, and their incredibly uncanny inability to count their own inventory accurately.

As far as I have ever seen or heard, Newegg is one of the very few online retailers which not only does not have these kinds of problems regularly (and in most cases, if ever) but they also have a very quick response on RMAs and are more than happy to meet a customer's every need.

In a literal world full of shoddy online retailers, they are a breath of fresh air. And therefore, their superior service and lack of deceptive business practices is heralded the world over. (Well, maybe not that far, but technically it is a world wide web after all...)

You're right. No one's shopping needs have to be met by only one online retailer. However when one online retailer meets our shopping needs so well, why go elsewhere? It isn't about thinking outside the box. It's about having absolutely no need to go outside of the box in the first place.

Saving $1 to get something from somewhere else isn't going to cause me to switch. Good customer service is definetly worth something!

yeah, what online computer shop do you have? i live in the midwest and i'll say about 80%-90% of what i purchase comes from there. why? if for no other reason than shipping. i can order a part with 2 day fedex for less than what other places charge for GROUND UPS shipping and that's including places i could take a couple hour drive to. their prices are usually among the lowest as well. plus it's what people in the 80's and early 90's used to call personal touch. there's a lot of comfort in knowing that when you need something it'll get there when specified and in working order. i don't know from your post if you're coming off naive or ignorant, you can choose.

I hate NEWEGG! it sucks, it stinks, it wreaks of unmentionables...well actually I am the one who suck and stinks and whatever...I live in California and what I hate most about online shopping is TAX! I usually buy outside CA to avoid tax when buying items more than $100 and when I buy it's because I want a new computer which means I'll be spending more than 600 or 1000 dollars and that means big tax! anyway NEWEGG does have cheap prices. I usually see them at the cheap section of pricewatch.com whenever I browse through PC products...I have bought only once from NEWEGG and the transaction went fine without me having to return anything.

It would be nice though to have just one online shop to buy your PC products especially when you are buying parts to build your own computer. Unfortunately at times you see one shop selling a peripheral at the lowest price, let's say a videocard, but sells other peripherals that you need such as soundcards, HDD, CPU, mobo etc. at high prices...therefore you are forced to shop at diffirent online shops just to get the lowest prices on each products. I would buy at NEWEGG just to save on combined shipping but alas the TAX!

Also I've found shops on the East Coast that are very reliable, prolly as reliable as NEWEGG that offers 2 or 3 day shipping at low prices and their PC products are cheap too, not all though...

If one shop has the lowest price on a latest videocard and another shop on the latest CPU and another shop on the latest HDD and another shop on the latest mobo then God help us that one ultimate shop has the lowest prices on ALL the latest PC products! NEWEGG seem to cover cheap prices on many PC products but not all and for Californians, you gotta pay the TAX!

I just used Newegg again. Not only are they awesome, but the shipping was free and it came in 2 days.

Yeah, it sucks to pay tax for us in CA, but the service is worth it.

phoenix, apparently i guess you are an experienced shopper and have a good reason to be in favor of newegg, because surely you would have checkout the other 100s (perhaps there may be 1000s) of online computer stores and checked them out each no a 1 by 1 basis to come this conclusion, because out of all of them, THIS IS #1? Wow... your credit card must be seriously used up pheonix... being used up 100's of times.

I'm so sick and tired of people attacking people for liking a vendor. There are 15 threads about Newegg. They're there so that you have a decent if not good if not great place to spend your hard earned cash. Don't want our advice? Fine.

Go ahead and blow your cash anywhere you want but shut the hell up about Newegg. If you don't like them, don't use them. If you do like them, use them. Stop trying to make a science out of this.

The fact of the matter is that most of us have shopped at several different vendors over the years. Some of us have shopped at 'many' vendors. People are just trying to give each other good advice. We report the bad vendors, we report the good vendors, but why are we reporting about people reporting the good vendors? And why are we having to get into huge debates with people like you who are reporting about people reporting the good vendors? If you have a lot of free time go do some community service or visit your grandmother or something.

Newegg is the best "so far". Is that ok with you?

You think your tax is bad. In Canada we have to pay 14.5 percent tax on everything except food. The ontop of that is shipping, which by the way is a lot if you order from the US.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Yes... everyone should go test out each and every online computershop just for the hell of it. Nevermind the 30 out of 100 that will rip you off...at least you spiced up your life with all new shopping experiences. Why buy from someone you know and trust and that has a all around good reputation and very competitive prices when you can go to another site, ran out of some hillbilly's garage, roll the dice and hope you get the right product and wait 3 to 6 months to find out? Yeah.... I get your point....

I just spent 1400 bucks from newegg. They shipped the stuff on a friday and it got here on tueday, i live in connecticut. It was greatly packed and the rma policy is great. Everything about newegg rules and anyone should definately consider them.

I'm just gonna add to this but here ya go. I've just done my very 1st transaction with newegg and not to mention my very 1st online order. I used to buy all my parts around from here where I live but I usually got crappy rma policies, undereducated servicemen, and I NEVER EVER once came out with a batch of parts where EVERYTHING worked. After dealing with newegg I don't think I'll buy many components from other places. I placed my order with basic shipping on a friday and woulda had it on that monday had I been around to get it. I got it the next day though. Living closer to CA helps but overall that's pretty damned fast. Also, their shipping prices are exceptional I can go through and find a TON of product with cheap or free shipping how can you beat that?!?! Oh yea, I can check my order status and KNOW EXACTLY WHAT'S GOING ON, AND ABOVE ALL I GOT WORKING PARTS!!! How can you hate a company that helps save you from the sometimes awesome headache of troubleshooting. Call me a newegg fanboy or whatever you want but you know what I'll take that label if it gets me working parts, great shipping, good prices, a great variety, and policies that don't in the end screw me over. Yes there are other places and it's a valid point but why waste effort elsewhere unless newegg doesn't have what ya want?????

Well, I never exactly bought from newegg.com, so I'm not sure what the policy it is, but it is cheaper than a lot of places. My uncle bought from newegg, and it went well. Newegg is not far from where I live either. I look at other stores, and seeing how I have to pay shipping and tax at another store with bad customer service. I think that online stores aren't that reliable. I think that newegg shouldn't be that bad, because it's cheap and compare it to CompUSA, it's a great deal. And um... that's my opinion.

I've made two more orders with Newegg, both recieved in 2 days with no problems.

Some of the better deals are those with no shipping charges. I bought a monitor with free shipping and that alone saved me a fortune.

I know that there are other places to shop, and I shop at other sites as well. However, Newegg.com has been one of my better experiences. I think they are great!

JPW you are an idiot. Your arguments for shopping elsewhere is weak and pathetic. Why fix something that isn't broken. Newegg kicks ass in terms of price and customer service. They ship out fast and make little mistakes. Whats the point shopping elsewhere. Why do so many people endorse them you ask? Its frikkin obvious, its because their customers are satisfied. You think people would jump up and down for joy if newegg screwed their customers over? moron

whoa, don't flame the guy. It's his opinion, and if he does not like the shop, it's what he thinks. It doesn't matter what you think, or what I think. It's what he thinks. So if he doesn't like oh well. Better for you, since newegg doesn't need to process his orders.

like you my newphew lives very near these people (la habra heights) but i live about as far away from newegg as you can and still be in the usa (southern new hampshire). my state also has no sales tax and i go to every computer show in the area and NO ONE can beat their prices!!! i just bought the retail version of the p4 2.4b processor; compusa in salem nh $250, newegg $184 w/no shipping charge, difference $66. the gigabyte 667pe ultra mobo newegg $155, compusa doesn't carry it and i have yet to see it at the local computer shows.

bottom line: great prices, all the latest stuff, auto-notify when something comes in and great customer service.
sounds like a winning formula to me.
