21.6" BenQ G2110W vs. 19" Asus VW198T

Both run at 1680x1050. The Asus has speakers and comes with a DVI cable, the BenQ doesn't.
The BenQ is $229, the Asus is $209.

Worth it?

If you want more details you can google the monitors, but really, the other stats are pretty much the same.

I don't mind having a smaller screen, I'm just wondering if 1680x1050 displays better on a 19" or a 21.6".


So which would you buy?

Generally, speaking 1680 x 1050 will look better on a 19" than 21.6" monitor because the pixel spacing difference and pixel size will be smaller.

However, the down side is that text will look smaller on the 19" as opposed to the 21.6".

Tiny speakers on monitor suck so don't let that sway you.

When you say BenQ doesn't come with a DVI cable, but does that mean it only has a VGA port? Or it does have a DVI port, but no cable?

Yeah, you can change the DPI setting if you want, but not all message boxes plays nice with higher DPI settings so some text may not appear because they would then become "out of bounds". The higher the DPI setting the more likely text will be "out of bounds".

You can test it with your current monitor. Play around with the DPI setting, I think default is 96, you can try a setting at 105 through 120 to see the effects (if any).

If it was me I would buy the BenQ because it is bigger which makes reading text easier. The video cards I buy usually comes with a DVI cable so I wouldn't care if the monitor comes with one or not.

As for which one actually has better image quality, that's hard to say just by looking at the specs.
