I have a broken screen dell lap top and a netbook. I just bought a cable for moniter and connected to the dell laptop to netbook, but it did not work. Do I need a setting for moniter? I am thinking if I should buy a new laptop, but I still want to keep my pictures and music from dell laptop and it will cost me too much. If I buy a just lap top moniter, do you think I can put it in easily? [/b]I am thinking I should try to fix it by myself. I have some tools.
If you mean you bought a cable to connect the two computers' VGA ports together, you can't do that. There's no way (other than your own invention converter) to make your netbook screen work for your notebook.
You have two options, here:
1. You can remove your notebook's hard disk and copy the files you want to save to another computer, then buy a new notebook. You'll need an interface for your disk and some other computer, whether it be a desktop or another notebook. The new notebook will cost a pretty penny, though.
2. You can replace the screen. It's not too difficult to do, and less expensive. Generally they should be $300 or less. For more help on removing your screen, look here:
