DVD Drive no longer appearing in Bios

Hi there, I have a Packard Bell EasyNote LJ61 notebook which came with Vista installed and all was well. When I brought it I got a free Windows 7 Upgrade when it was released. When I got the Upgrade DVD I installed it and all seemed fine.

However i soon noticed that the DVD drive was not appearing in the My Computer folder. After some playing about it appears that the drive does appear if you put a CD or DVD in it but after a while it disappears again after a short time.

Have a look in the Bios it appears the same thing happens, its not in the bios unless i open and close the DVD drive while I start the bios up.

Any ideas?

Regards
Chris

Hi aford, I'm pretty sure its not that because, as i mentioned, I can open the drive at any time and it will start accessing the cd i put in it, so it appears to always have power.
