Hey
Why sometimes my system process starts to work on 99% but... then I can't do
anything and it stays like this, even clock doesn't update. I have no virus (
Norton antivirus with up to date definisions says it ) no spamware ( ad-aware
). My hardware was extensivly tested for bad-blocks and I also tested my
memory with memtest. The problem is rare usually once a day... but sometimes
are bad days and it occurs 5 times a day. My mouse pointer works ok, but
systems stops to respond on anything. I was curious what's going on so I set
realtime priority on taskmanager and that's how I found out about this System
process working on 100%. If anybody can give me a clue about this. I have
also norton firewall so I believe my security is pretty good. What it can be
?

Do some clean-boot troubleshooting:

Clean Boot - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=310353

You need to determine what is running. Some people have reported a
similar issue with HP printer drivers. If you have an HP printer, check
what processes are set to run a startup and do some research on Google.

No I don't have HP Printer. My hardware didn't changed lastly. Today I
update my nvidia drivers maybe this will happen ? But I don't know what could
cause the problem so... And it's rare usually once a day so diagnosing is a
litlle hard.

Always in troubleshooting you must ask yourself, "what changed between
the time things worked and the time they didn't?" and you must also do
troubleshooting methodically. It can be tedious and time-consuming but
there is no way around that. To troubleshoot your problem, try these
things making one change at a time and testing after each change:

1. Roll back the Nvidia drivers. Do this from the device's properties in
Device Manager. If this solves the issue, stop here.

2. If #1 didn't work, do a System Restore to when things worked well. If
this solves the issue, stop here.

3. Do clean-boot troubleshooting as previously suggested and run that
way for an extended period of time. Stay off the Internet while you are
testing. If the system behaves well, then you can start your firewall
and antivirus and connect to the Internet. Continue testing, only
enabling one thing at a time and testing after each change.

You should ananlyse (or look at) the moduls the system has loded, and
see if any are suspisios, if you have spybot s&d installed, you can
use that to look at the modules loaded, it should look some thing like
this...

If there are any that are obviusly not supposed to be tehre (most
likly the culprit) i surgest you rename the file restart, and if the
problem has cesed, then delete the file (asuming windows is working
normaly of course)
