My 88 yr old mother's Sony, single disc, CD player has finally died. CD player is connected to a Sony receiver (or amp.?) and a pair of bookshelf speakers. I want to replace the CD player. She needs SIMPLE--one disc, with few buttons. Do I get a DVD player? She will use this only to listen to audio CDs. Thanks for suggestions.

You can get her one of the cheap and simple slim dvd player or get her a mini or micro hifi system.

Before spending, check that the existing CD player is not using non-standard connectors. Some units sold with low cost systems use the main unit's power supply and remote sensor. If that is so you may have to replace the whole system.
