poor geforce 6600gt performance

Just last week i bought an eVGA 6600gt from newegg, it came on time etc, so as i get it i open package install and instantly go to the nvidia site and downloaded the latest drivers, opened World of Warcraft to test it out, my settings were low from my previous cards so i put them all on full, then clicked ok and bam i was getting 16-25 fps, so i put them a little lower, still was poor and then i put them to half, basically all are half now and i get 60-75 fps whichis quite good, but i expect alot more from that card, i ask everyone that i meet in the game about their settings, usually they have radeon 9700pro or 9800pro, sometimes 9600xt and they still have it higher and they say theirs are all up and it runs smooth, even people who posted on newegg said that it gave nice fps, i just wanted to know if anyone has suggestions? My power supply is from dell, a 250 watt, but i even unpluged my cd rom, dvd burner,floppy, all extra usb cables to save watts which could maybe help me, it still was the same result, and my computer doest flash , or make strange noises to show it was low on power, can anyone help?

1) I think you need a new PSU. 250W is kinda low these days, especially if it's from Dell. Look into some name brand PSU's Antec, Fortron Source for starters, maybe in the 400W range. Don't think this is the only problem, or that you are alone. 2) Post your complete system specs

3) Above thread indicated possible driver issues. Try different drivers and see if it changes anything.

Did some more reading. I'm not up on online gaming, but this World of Warcraft is an on-line multiplayer game, right? I've read that some multi-player games suffer low FPS when either the server is too slow or too many players on that server. Try and run some benchmarks and post them here. See what FPS you are getting in other games, non-multi player.

how many processes do you have running considering it's a dell that could be taking away some performance

have you checked for spyware/virus
