When I only had 512 ddr, my PC was working fine... (both modules were 400mhz and my MB can support it)... but when i installed another 256 ddr400, my PC works a bit faster but sometimes it freezes... or stops for a while and after half of minute works again fine.. first, I tought it was due windows, so I've formated c:... but samte thing happens after reinstall
does anyone know what's wrong with it?
BTW.maybe I have to adjust something in BIOS?(I doubt)

What are your system specs? What slots are the memory sticks inserted into? Need more info...but go ahead and run MEMTEST86 on all the sticks and then on each stick individually.

So it was wroking fine without the 256MB module... you just had to add 256MB. Now you screwed it up! jk

Run Memtest86 as mentioned by OVER C. You might find errors with the new module... In general, unmatched memory pairs are less stable.

In anycase, your issue is most likely one of the following:
1.Bad memory module
2.Complications with your motherboard chipset
-Your memory setup is not favorable.
3.Problem with your power supply
-The extra memory module requires more power.

Memory imcompatibility is very possible if you bought CHEAP noname or unreputable memory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
