Hey guys, I'm thinking of buying a webcam for the first time. I'm not familiar at all with what's the good stuff it should have. I would like to have a high picture quality and little lag.

Which ones would you recommend?

Thanks.

Logitech is pretty high in the field, the main thing is don't scrimp you get what you pay for, and can your system and connection throughput give you smooth performance?

AMD XP 3200+ / Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe / Corsair XMS PC3200 1024mb LLC2 / ATI X850 Pro / SoundBlaster X-FI / 2 Seagate SATA 7200rpm/8mb / Plextor PX-716A DVDRW

I use AXIS 2120 network cams, very nice Motion JPEG and MPEG encoding built in, 30 fps, 1024x768 high res images and no need for a server to host as it's built in.

If you don't mind the hefty price tag ($300+), very awsome multi-purpose camera.

Now that is a "network/internet camera", if you want a small "webcam" for just messing around or so people can see your face in conferancing, I'd suggest a nice Veo Mobile Connect or the Logitech QuickCam Pro series (I have a laptop, those are the few I've used that didn't bother me too much in quality)
