Bose in automotive??

Ok...Now I'm pissed!
I have an Infiniti G35s sedan -2007...
It is a good car, works well, fast enough, ergos are good etc.

But the freeken sound system: DUBBed "Infiniti Studio On Wheels by BoSe" --- I think it is crap.
Sorry for my tone.
I'm just really angry with Bose and this sound system. It's better than let's say a Honda fit's system... But it really sounds bad. Originally when I got the car, I already had reservations on some missing/ & sounds that are " muffed"... muddy sounds etc... especially noticed: snare drum sounds overly loud - and causes my listening fatigue! I usually drive with my sound system turned off now :( 
I don't blame nissan and all the other car companies that choose this so called name " Bose " zzzz
... It helps them keep costs down , make more $$, and ...

Disappointed.
My 1000$ mix and matched home theatre system sounds better-fuller sound spectrum/// alot fuller and clearer than this crappy Bose system!...

PS. I started to look into speaker upgrades in my Home Theatre... and bought a few satellites by Klipsch - NOt the best, but decent and was on sale:p ... I'm now running 7.2 surround. I begining to become very picky with my sound:p ... Not really a fan of Bose HTIB stuff either.

It sounds bad because it is bose :) 

Simple fact: Bose is crap. I have some B&W 685 speakers, and my friend has a high end bose setup. My system absolutely blows his out of the water in every way.

I had a Bose sound system in my Nissan Maxima, and it sounded GREAT! Very clean, crisp and full. Plenty of bottom. And that was running it with the EQ flat.

And incase you think I don't know what I'm talking about, I do live sound for a couple bands and I've recorded, engineered, mastered and produced 6 CD's, and 3 music DVD's.

I'm glad that you like your system in the Maxima.

I had a Bose system in my Audi S4 -2004 also... and It sounded decent at the time I got it.
Then after a while... I started listening to other systems out there... and it's quality of sound / speakers started to show.

The only way I [or yourself] would appreciate the differences is to listen to other systems out there.

Let's put it this way... compare your / my current Infiniti G bose system to a Harmon Kardon system in the BMW 3series [I'm not fond of BMW's - but just for sound sytem comparison]... and the HK system with sound so much clearer - esp. at higher volumes.

My G is actually rated at 350watts and the HK is only 200watts... But the differences must be heard.

I do appreciate your experience in the sound industry. .. so It'll be great if you had a listen.

I agree that for a home theater or music system for you home Bose is pretty bad especially for the price. Their car systems vary quite a bit in how they sound because their philosophy of using cheap speakers with EQ works better in some cars than others (you can't actually turn the basic EQ off). It's not the way it should be done but boy do they make a lot of money doing it that way.

My Mercedes also have BOSE system sounds good when played slow music like L Cohen but my Mercury and Lincolns JVL system sounds better, I have also installed an Alpine head unit and Sony speakers for $500 for my friend’s vehicle and it seems to sounds better than my $2000 Bose. There’s only one thing I like one my Bose system; Volume increases (not by much) when vehicle speed increases. Because I want to keep my audio control on the steering wheel; I can't replace the head unit.


For those who have the same issue like mine, I think that the only way to upgrades these systems are to add amplifiers and replace the speakers.

Bose may be better than others I think, but not for what they're charge for. imo.

You guys know what BOSE stands for right....... Buy Other Stereo Equipment :) 

I never understood why people will pay $2000 for an upgraded audio package at a new car dealer when they can go to a local specialist and get an entire aftermarket system for $700 - $1000 that will sound a million times better. Plus it will be a better car audio name, like Alpine for instance. There is always something you can do to upgrade the sound in your car. With the technology today it can be done while everything keeps a stock look and not take up space as well.

I feel like a smock after my making my previous comment that was here and I apologize for those whoever read it. It's now been edited. Sorry people.

It doesn't void your car's warranty to add in any kind of aftermarket part. This is a huge myth. The Magnusson-Moss Warranty act states this. It's the law. Bring this up to your car dealer if they give you a hard time. They'll shut up right away.

I had a bose system in my cts sound like it had a muffler on it. just plain out sucks. I now have a 2011 mkz with THX audio and sync. 100 times better in sound... You here every sound out of anything......
