previously i have installed win-7 ultimate my system rating was 5.9 and my hard disk was crashed and replacing the hard disk now i have installed win-7 home premium and now its showing 4.8. just i want know whether system rating depends on operating system or its the hard disk that i have changed.

It's most likely the hard drive. Hard drives top out at 5.9. 4.8 does sound kind of low, but the WEI number isn't really important as long as your system is running fine.

Odd that you switched from ultimate to home premium.

How could we know? You haven't told us what hard disk you had before or what hard disk you have now. If you replaced a faster drive with a slower drive, obviously your score will be lower.

For example, going from a 7200rpm WD Caviar Black to a 5400rpm WD Caviar Blue or Green is clearly going to make your score suffer.

The rating is not dependant on your OS edition. It is a benchmark of your HDDs performance. You may have bought one with less cache, or slower spin or it may just be outright worse.

If you are confident you've bought a better HDD than your original then I'd look at whether it is running in IDE or AHCI mode in the BIOS. If you discover it is running in IDE mode then report back for instructions - DO NOT just change it, windows will not boot without the appropriate driver.

Also, as above, post up your old and new HDD details.
