I have a Dell Studio 17 and a LCD TV. I would like to connect my Laptop to the TV. I was told I just need to get HDMI cable to connect from my laptop to the TV. However, in reading some posts, I am reading that some people have issues with resolution and audio. Are there any other requirements besides the HDMI cable?

Also, which HDMI cable should get? I see there is HDMI 1.3 and 1.4 as well as DVI- this is confusing.

Will audio also be available with video via HDMI? Sorry for my ignorance I am just confused when it comes to this.

Thanks for your answers and for your time-
Tommy

HDMI 1.3 is the current standard, and will do you fine with your current equipment. 1.4 adds larger resolution bandwidth and support for ethernet, with some other things.

DVI is the 'predecessor' to HDMI - DVI carries only video signals. HDMI essentially bands a DVI signal and an audio signal into a single cable.

Thanks for your response. I'll go with the 1.3 as you suggest!
