Processor 2.53 Intel Core 2 Duo with a 2 Gig and 4 Gig memory chips. Is it ok to run with this configuration (one 2 gig and one 4 gig chips) or should I match them up as 2 and 2 or 4 and 4?

The config you have is fine, no matter the OS. It's not the best, but the difference only matters in high-performance situations, which you don't have.

Which operating system are you using? And which application are mainly going to run on this system?

6GB [4+2] of memory is sufficient for the applications that you are using. 8GB [ 2x 4GB] will make your system more future proof, having said that I don’t recommend spending too much money on upgrades, it just not worth it :pfff: .
