windows 2000 hangs in randomly

ok i have a problem here. my windows 2k seems to hang randomly. even after a brand new install, i update everything, install all the patches it still hangs. it often hangs durning high load times. i tried neverwinter nights, and so i far i was able to load modules once. it also seems to happen in HL/CS. other times it just hangs when surfing the net, anybody have any idea?
specs are

Abit KT7A-RAID
Athlon 1.13GHz 133FSB
Western Digital 40G (wd400bb)
512 megs PC133
GeForce 3
soundblaster audity
d-link network card
intelli mouse explorer

i installed the via 4 in 1 drivers
i installed SP2 for windows and all the hotfixes
i installed the athlon reg fix

anybody have any idea?

definitely sounds like hardware. Could be a conflict with the Audigy? Did you try removing it to see if the problems disappears?

no i have not. i installed the newest drivers so theoreticly that should not be it, ill give it a try though
