Hi, I am looking to purchase a laptop for a desktop replacement under 700.00 if I can. No gaming. Concerned about fact that they all have Vista on them. Looking to purchase at Best Buy. Use internet constantly due to being a seller on eBay. Do I need Intel Duo Core or is AMD ok? Can I expect the same lifespan from my laptop as a desktop? Any suggestions as to models and processors would be great.

^Vista is a fine OS, so don't worry about it. Plus most laptops come with upgrades to Windows 7 which is rather nice as well. For general uses, there isn't going to be much of a difference an Intel Core2Duo and an AMD Turion X2. Laptops can last just as long as desktops, just be sure to maintain it and clean the dust out. I have an old IBM ThinkPad from like 1996 somewhere at home that still worked the last time I started it up (about 2 years ago).
