Freezes on POST CPUID

Hi I have a HP desktop with a intel core duo 6600 2.4ghz 2 gb ddr2 ram 2gb

On boot it is freezing with the cpuid 06f6 patch id 00cb

I have tried changing the ram and disconnected the hdd's and dvd/cd also took out the mb battery for a while and problem persists

Can anyone help pls

Have you tried re-seating the CPU? The message you are getting is not an error code it's the CPU identification ID, basically it's telling the BIOS what the CPU is. Has the machine been subject to any knocks or temperature changes? It could have just dislodged the CPU enough to cause an issue.

Other possible route is PSU. The HP ones are not mega quality.

I did do some further research and the cpu was faulty so I just replaced the motherboard - luckily I had a spare just laying around ;) 
!
