I'm trying to configure my PC to produce 5.1 surround sound with SPDIF cable. I've tried functions on the Control Panel, VIA HD Audio setups, installing AC3 with SPDIFER and still have no luck getting the reciever to produce 5.1. I do recieve sound from the front L & R speackers but that is all. Please someone help me figure out this configure.

Does your system is setup properly?

If your audio source is stereo and your player can not simulate 5.1 then no way you can get 5.1

Another problem you may have is that your equipment might not support 5.1 through S/PDIF.
