i was looking at a HP p6277c-b
i was wondering if i could upgrade the gpu (which is now integrated) to a HD radeon 4670 or something similar

You've got the PCIe x16 slot, so the motherboard will support it.

As Saint mentioned, you need to find out what kind of PSU you have. Look for a label on it that lists the wattage and how many amps are on the 12v rail(s).
