I have had my computer for just over a yr now and currently have a 80gb ide hard drive. I am looking at getting a new 200-250gb hdd soon, and am wondering whether to get sata or not. i would need to buy a pci card to support sata. can u run sata and ide together? are they raid compatible with each other? the main reason i am looking at sata is so that if i do a full upgrade in the next yr or so i will be able to keep the sata drive rather than haveing 2 outdated ide drives? any ideas. also if i was going to go sata, what would be the best brand of hadd and pci card? cheers

is it worth it for the performance increase though? and is it even possible to get sata and ide together?

No and yes, in that order.

Currently HDD's can't use all the bandwidth of ATA/100, let alone ATA/133 and SATA/150, so the performance difference is negligable (sp?).
