THG Spinpoint Review

Read the recent THG Samsung Spinpoint review. Anybody have any amplifying thoughts on these drives? Reliability? Warranty? How accurate was the article? Conflicting info?

I bought a 360MB Samsung drive for a PC I put together for my sister several (10?) years ago - didn't have any trouble with it and she used it for a while. Only Samsung drive I recall having.

Mike.

From I saw it is as quiet/cool as the Seagate and is faster almost across the board. I'll have to check the Samsung site and get some warranty details...

The article has at least one major flaw in it. The test setup is listed here as using an Intel D845EBT motherboard - that is an ICH4 design. I am intrigued to know how they tested the SP2504C with that motherboard - it doesn't have onboard SATA! They don't mention what SATA controller they used - why bother going to the trouble of carefully listing the test setup when it is patently impossible to generate the benchmarks they did with the list hardware. THG seems to increasingly be full of errors and omissions like this - the quality of the articles from the test labs is definitely poorer than it once was.....
