Hi everyone I am wanting to build my first computer but after reading all the books and looking at websites I am still worried thta if I buy parts then find out that they are not able to work together. I was going to order some parts but the I.T person at work said that they were bot able to work together
My main problem are the following:
1 what cpu's will work with what motherboard
2 whatdoes all the tech names for memory (ddr ram pc2700 etc etc)
3 how do I know what memory to buy that will work with the motherboard
4 lastly how do I understand all the webites that are selling parts
Thanks for any help in advance

I'd start with the motherboard as it is sort of the central piece of the puzzle. The motherboard manufacturers website will give a detailed list of all the compatible processors and ram. Most RAM manufacturers will also have a list of compatible motherboards.

First you have to decide Intel or AMD.
What are you going to use it for?
I think AMD gives you more bang for your buck.
Think about it and then reply so we can help you decide.
