I've been searching for a new laptop that will mainly be used for multimedia playback and Blu Ray burning along with some gaming. The games I'll most likely be playing are RTS', WoW, Diablo 3 (when its released) and possibly some FPS.

I've come across this Sony VGN-FW490 CTO.

The specs are:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9900 (3.06GHz)
8GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 4GBx2)
320GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [7200 rpm]
Blu-ray Disc playback/burning
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD4650 graphics card with 1GB vRAM
16.4" widescreen with XBRITE-FullHD™ LCD technology (1920x1080)

Ordering this from Sony's website the price comes out to be $2270.

Is this good enough for what I need? Is it too expensive? Could I possibly lower the processor to the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9600 (2.80GHz) to save $400 without sacrificing too much performance?

I can honestly say I'm guilty of being allured to the Sony brand name yet, I'm certainly open to any other suggestions and brands. I'm willing to pay the $2270 but it's pretty hard to swallow. Any suggestions or comments would be extremely appreciated! Thanks in advance!

according to what you said not even T9600 CPU is more than enough for you , but also you can reduce your RAM to 4GB (better be a dual channel)

Thanks for replying.

So you're saying the 2.8 ghz won't be enough? What exactly is it going to have trouble with?

I said 2.8GHz with 6Mb cash is completely enough for what you said also you can save another 400$ by reducing RAM to 4Gb
that high end specification (T9900 CPU + 8Gb RAM) is for gaming in high resolution high detail high frame rate
are going to do all these ?
