I just ordered the parts for my system (based on some suggestions thanks guys!) and I reused some that I already had. Here's the list:

Raidmax Black Aluminum Gaming Case
Fortron AX500-A ATX12V 500W PSU
EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra
A64 3000+ Winchester
KINGMAX 512MB DDR 400 RAM
eVGA Geforce 6600 256MB 128-bit DDR PCIe
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz 6 (5.1) Channels PCI
WD Caviar SE 80GB 7200 RPM SATA150
WD Caviar SE 200GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100
Maxtor 200GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA133
NEC ND-3520A BK DL IDE DVD Burner
NEC Floppy Drive

I have that Kingmax 512MB stick but since now my system supports dual channel I'll probably just buy 2 512MB sticks or a 512X2 pack.

What's the best bang for buck option for this particular system (I won't be OCing).

wusy suggested this one: Mushkin PC3200 1Gb blue dual pack, and it looks good for the price but I want to know what do you think about it now that I have all the parts, or if you have a better option around that price but below $100 for the Gig of memory.

I will be buying it at newegg so links for that site would be great.

Thanks in advance guys!

And thanks again to wusy, rugger and all the other that helped with suggestions.

I still like the Mushkin for that system without OCing. I'll see if I can dredge up some more options...

Those look good!
Do you know where can I read to learn about memory?
I don't understand the specs of RAM.
The guys here at THGC are great but I would like to learn more so I can minimize the dumb questions I make.

I found something I'm still confused but it's a start

I haven't been able to order the memory but today I did a search and there is another option than the ones you and wusy listed before.
Which one do you think is the best of the ones you guys told me and this other option. I don't know which brand is better , but I noticed the the G SKILL has a lower latency. I would like the best overall memory. I don't know how significant is the lower latency but if it's not a lot then I rather go with the brand that has a better reputation.

Thanks in advance!

The Corsair has typically been higher priced for the same product. This is a good deal on this RAM and it is about as good as the Mushkin I first listed.

If you meant to link o GSkill RAM, then it didn't work. GSkill is another good mfr that I would recommend. Post a good link and we'll take a look to make sure the particular model you are looking at is good.

No I meant to link the corsair. You already linked the GSkill earlier in the same thread.
So my question really is which one is better from the mushkin the corsair and the 3 links that you put earlier?

He means that the OCZ Value VX have really great potential for OCing and are dirt cheap for their potential. Remember, the OCZ Value VX need high V (3.6V or so) to reach their full potential. The only boards that gives that to you without mods are DFI...

Unless he feels like vmodding that board, UTTs aren't really gonna work well. For under $100 and a gig of RAM, that G.Skill will probably be the ones that give you the lowest latencies. I've seen them clock to 250MHz 2.5-4-4-8 so you could potentially do that as well.

However with ValueVX they don't warranty it to those levels. If you can get 2.5-3-3-7 at DDR400, you can't really RMA it.

People have killed sticks of TwinMOS UTT with too high volts. But then again that was usually cause they were stupid and used 3.5V+ with no cooling...

But then I guess it goes back to the morality issue. If people RMA stuff that they destroy, I just find it ethically wrong. If you're not willing to risk killing something, then you probably shouldn't be pushing massive volts through it.
