I was hoping the community can help me with a cost-effective upgrade to an old T22 Laptop.

I wanted some links on a cheap way to upgrade the hard disk to a SSD/CF/Flash etc typ drive.

Requirements:

>16 GB
>Maximum speed for the PATA interface (will this make CF cost prohibitive)

I am using Xubuntu as my OS of choice. Thanks for the help!

cost-effective is relative to how much money you have; how much money do you want to spend on this thing?

i'd say less than 75 USD. i was hoping to use an adapter to enable the use of a CF card or a USB stick or something. My goal was to combine the fastest possible solution without going over the max speed of the PATA interface.

For $75, you're better off getting a PATA disk. You'll get far more capacity for it.
