So I had removed from my custom PC case the cables for front headphone connections about 4-5 years ago. I just started delving into windows 7 audio enhancements and settings and realized that windows wouldn't recognize my rear speaker jack as a headphone jack, and was limiting my ability to configure it to headphone sound quality and not front speakers.
To test out the difference I decided to plug in the cable to my motherboard AAFP jack on my motherboard and see what was up. I noticed that there were these enhancements in windows that I had never tried. Saw "virtual surround" under headphones, and decided that I wanted to use that from here on out instead of just using the rear jack with stereo speaker.
So after re-installing my case mount for the front jacks, plugging everything in and re-powering my case. Windows boots up and there suddenly is no "virtual surround" option for headphones. What gives? Was I somehow on drugs unbeknownst to me, or is it possible something happened somewhere after rebooting that took the option away?
Please help, this function would be awesome for gaming and music. If there are quality third party programs like Dolby or something of the like that would facilitate this need then I will appreciate the suggestion.
