I'm planning the components for a pc I'm building (1st one!). The parts so far:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (Sledgehammer)
MB: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe

I have no clue what brands of memory are good. The prices vary so much, I don't want to take the risk of buying a sub-par component. Is there any brand of memory that anyone here recommends?

Will you be OCing because there's good RAM that's not good for OCing

If you're over-clocking a small bit, or not at all, the Hyper X memory over at outpost is going for $90-110 for a gig of CL2.0 ram. There was a $25 rebate on that at one point earlier this week, but you'll have to check it out. If you're considering ocing, you only need memory that will hit 240 (480ddr), because that motherboard won't go higher then that and still remain stable (1:1 1T anyway). I spent $240 on some TCCD ram, and i can't nearly hit what they're supposed to be able to. The best i can do is 245 1T 1:1. I haven't seen anyone hit over 250 1:1 1T. But then, if you're not oc'n none of that matters. The best memory you can get is the 2 2 2 5 stuff. You can get several different kinds that will run at those settings, the hyper X outpost has will do 2 3 2 7 (or 2 3 3 7) and is about $75 cheaper then the 2 2 2 5 stuff. Good luck!
