Hi, a few years back I was happily using my old 1930's Bakelite phone on my dial-up internet/phone line, I then changed over to broadband so now I have to use a filter plugged into my phone socket. The trouble is that I can't use my old phone ? I get a dial-tone, and I can dial out, but the phone won't ring ? I was told that there isn't enough current on the broadband line to work the bell inside my old phone ? Has anyone had similar problems ? or know of any internet groups or sites that may be able to help ?

You could try wiring in a solid state ringer from a scrapped modern phone, but that would seem pretty odd coming from the black bakelite phone sitting in your living room (behind the sofa to the left).
