Hi guys and gals, (sorry if this is in the wrong sub-category) I want to get some headphones for gaming and I was considering some turtle beach ones (open to any other suggestions, they need to be 5.1 though). Now, to the point, my mobo is a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P and its onboard sound card supports up to 7.1. With the onboard card would I get a good audio experience, would a sound card drastically improve it? And finally, are those headphones amps good or worth the money?

For 5.1, I usually recommend a soundcard. It comes down to if you are satisfied with what you get using onboard though...

I would recommend a sound card with a headphone amp such as the ASUS Essence STX. Here is a review:
