Seems like a could buy, but should I buy it?

Well, it's probably going on 3 years old now, so every piece of hardware in it is about 3 generations behind.

I would:
a) make sure that it still works
b) is still in good shape

Like you said, see if he will let you give it a test drive. I would be hesitant to buy it otherwise, even if it's just for $200.

I highly, highly doubt that a notebook with a 7950 is brand new.

How much is it?

Edit: whoops, missed the $200. There has to be something wrong with it. It shouldn't be that cheap, even if it is old.
