Yesterday, I went shopping, bought all the pieces I need, put them together, and fired up the computer for the first time. Now everything went pretty smooth at first, everything worked and I installed my operating system. Then I continued to load up some other software and things after that. Then before I went to sleep, I shut down the computer.

Today I got up, pushed the power button, and now I get a screen that says theres nothing to boot from, and I need to put in the Windows XP disk so I can install the OS again.
After going through the setup for awile, it tells me that I have no hard disk, and nothing can continue.

I've done this 3 times now, everytime, about half way through the setup, it tells me that there is no hard drive. Yesterday, all day, the HD worked fine, now this morning I got nothing. I've checked the power cable, and thats working good, and Ive checked the other cables, and their doing good too. When I hit power, the HD spins up, but its just not reading that I install the OS already yesterday.

Thanks for your help,

Gutowski

Please post your full system specs. You have to specify in the BIOS what type of drive you are booting from. Either IDE or SATA. If it freezes in the same spot everytime, it could be a bad sector on the hard drive. Best bet, is to get a bootdisk, and run scandisk to check for any errors.
