have a toshiba satellite laptop running vista won't boot earlier audio driver crash tried system rescue disk now can't get into windows to retrieve data

If you don't care about your Windows installation, but just need to get your files back -- get an external hard drive enclosure and put your drive in it.
This way you can copy your data using another PC, then reinstall Windows from the scratch.
