Destop died need to transfer data to laptop

I have a Asus G74SX and I want to transfer data from old internal 60gb hard drive to laptop. I have a usb 3.0 on laptop. What do I need exactly to do this. I have 2 hard drives on old desktop which is 6 years old. One is Operating system the other is just for backup. Thanks for help in advance.

are the old drives ide or sata? you can get one of these...
