I don't recall hating something as much as I absolutely, unreservedly,
so deservedly, vehemently, unashamedly and so passionately HATE
activesync for the pocketpc.

I've been a computer user since 1981 and a computer owner since 1983,
so I'm not an idiot, and I know what to expect from software, having
used innumerable ones on DOS, windows, macos old and new, unix/linux,
palm and etc.

No piece of software ever caused me so much frustration and hatred as
activesync for the pocketpc (in fact, the whole PPC OS as a whole, but
activesync is the star of the day). No piece of software ever caused
me to waste so much time, effort, concentration, feelings and personal
resources at critical moments than microsoft's activesync.

Maybe had I not been a palmOS user for several years I would've
thought different. Maybe had I not used a PalmOS device I would've
just considered my PocketPC an expensive and ultimately unreliable
toy, or just a network terminal of sort, and I would've thought it was
perfectly fine.

I am "sick and tired", literally sick and tired, you know that
physical feeling of tightness of you get in the chest when you
wholeheartedly detest something, of microsoft's activesync. I am "sick
and tired" of putting my 84 tasks on hold while I try to figure out
why activesync is screwing up my data like it did today, yet again. I
am "sick and tired" of searching the web, posting on the pocketpc
newsgroup to eventually end up in an argument with the people who seem
to suggest that there's nothing wrong with activesync and that i must
either be an idiot or my device is faulty (I know neither is the case)
but eventually admit that they've never used a palmOS or experienced
the reliability I was accustomed to from the palm (I never, never,
never, not even once, had any unexpected data loss problems from
palmos despite years of using it). http://tinyurl.com/4k9rx (original
poster, not me, complained of "constant loss of data" - I, myself,
been there, done that, several times this year).

Right now activesync hangs perpetually and indefinitely when I
synchronize files, consuming up to 99% of my CPU activity that
eventually even the windows task manager itself stops responding and I
am unable to kill activesync, thereby having to reboot my desktop. I
had different problems before, but apparently, this is the flavor of
the month. The best answer I got from the pocketpc newsgroup was
this...

"Deselect the Files as an option to synchronize in ActiveSycn (Tools
->
Options) and then verify if the issue persists. If the problem is
solved,
move all the items in the File synchronization folder to a temp folder
and
then move the files one by one and check if you can identify any
corrupt
file that might be causing this problem."

YES!!! so I'm going to put my life on hold, my tasks on hold, my work
on my documents and personal projects on hold, and spend the time
moving them "one by one", considering that they are hundreds, to find
out which is the corrupt file.

I absolutely detest this.

This is the limit of my patience. I have restrained myself from going
back to palm because the ipaq with its accessories was a somewhat
expensive purchase and the hardware has its nice touches, but I just
give up.

Next thing, they're going to put warning labels on them:

"Warning: Microsoft software can cause high blood pressure and/or
severe depression".

I'll vouch for that. My T|E has been good for my blood pressure and
depression, fortunately.

Like the one underneath my (microsoft) keyboard you mean?! Anyone with a
microsoft keyboard can see what I mean. "While researchers are not yet able
to answer many questions about MSD's...we all know that they are caused
entirely by typing too much"
