i installed an upgrade from vista basic to vista ultimate but the upgrade was for a dell computer and i have a compaq so now the internet does not want to work is there any solutions

you're problem is that you are probably missing drivers.

What you can do:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc [...] roduct=top

enter your laptop model - and get the drivers for it. You can download them onto a disk or USB drive, and then open them on your laptop. This should fix your problem.

If not, we can figure out what's wrong, but there's a 90% chance this will fix it.
