Blue ray run problem

Hello,
I have a Sony Blue ray model DBP-BXI and I'm using a High Speed HDMI cable with it. What is causing irritating "quick as a wink stops" while it's playing? jumpy delays .

The last time i found this problem, it was overheating. Some blueray players just have the word "troubled" stamped on them from the beginning, but no one knows until it is heavily used. Some blueray players even run for months or years without having any problems, then all of the sudden snap and decide to continuously overheat. The only solution i know of is to replace it. I hate giving this as the first response, but i am yet to find a solution. (and i have done some research on it because my closest friend was having that issue, and a family friend works in Sony Tech told me the same thing.)
