Samba 4 "technology preview" available for download

Samba, the open-source suite of programs that connect Windows and Linux computers, is getting a face-lift with the release of Samba 4.0.0 TP 1. The release which is a pre-alpha, "technology preview", allows testers to use a Linux server to handle file and print sharing plus network logins. Windows servers are still needed to initially set up the accounts, but the Samba team says the new version can serve as a decent backup or to take the load off the main server. Read more

i jsut purchased and hooked up a Microsoft MN-700. i have
a sony pcv-e314ds connected here and an adapter to the
dell 4600 i have upstairs. i can use internet on the dell
but could not find the printer/folders on the sony. please
help

Make sure you are not running software firewalls or ICF.
Also check that both PC's have same workgroup name.

Then, go to the folder or printer that you to share. Mouse
right click and select sharing. Go to the other computer,
run the MBNU wait until the icon for the computer with the
shared items appears. Click on it, and you should see the
shared folder.

To add the network printer, run the printer wizard and
select network printer.
