Need some help for chosing a new laptop

Hello everybody,

This is my very first time to write in here..I just found that this forum is really great and people here are helping very well..

actually, I decided to get a new laptop, and I need some advice..( I'm an Eng. Designer, and I use many CAD applications and pro Engineer and these stuff) and I play a lot of games that need high graphics

I heard that there are new intel processors (i7, extreme, quad core) but I don't know much about them..

I have two main questions;

1 - Would I feel any differences between the quad core or i7 or core 2 duo?

2 - Would it be hard for me to upgrade to windows 7 next month, if the laptop I got is running on vista (32 bit Home)?

The last thing, I don't have many choices of brands but I think the best brands here are HP, Toshiba, Dell
