ok my setup as u can see from my sig...i have 512ram atm
it is corsair xms 3200. My amd 2500 is clocked at 400 fsb to give it 2000mhz.

I have ordered 512mb corsair xms 3200 ram and plan to stick it in dual channel on my abit nf7-s mobo.
If i got another 512mb corsair xms 3200 ram would it still work in dual channel....what would happen.
Does anyone know about the abit nf7-s and whether it can stick all 4 slots into dual channel (if i had four lots of coursair xms 3200 ram in it)

would i see that much difference between 1 gig and 2 gig?

thanks for the info

I don't have an NF7-S, but from what I understand, Dual-channel works on nForce2 even with 3 DIMMS, and I don't see why it wouldn't with 4.

The problems that are run into with 4 dimms are on Athlon 64 systems because of the stress on the memory controller built into the CPU, so your 2500 won't have that problem.

Both the NF7-S2 and NF7-S2G have support for up to 3GB single/dual channel. More importantly, there are only 3 slots for memory.

I believe the motherboards chipset divides the memory module's banks evenly. So 3 modules occupy 6 banks total, which leaves 3 banks per channel in a dual-channel setup.

You could do 3x512MB depending on your memory usage, but normally 1GB offers better performance under WINXP.

For your CPU and VGA card setup, 1GB is good enough.
