I find myself suddenly in need of a new video card, as my old one sort of overheated and now doesn't work. My motherboard has an AGP 4x/2x slot, and we all now that the lowest AGP cards out there now are 8x. So here's my question....will an AGP 8x card work in a 8x/4x slot? I understand that it will not work at it's maximum transfer speed, but it will still work properly, right? Thanks!

Yes, all current AGP cards work in a 4x slot. And all 4x-8x cards work on current AGP motherboards.
