My acer laptop says the system wont work

I downloaded a video editing program and it made me restart my computer so i did. When it restarted somethng camp up about a problem with my system so i clicked okay and was planning on the doing a norton anti virus scan. after like 5 minutes anything to do with the home screen stopped working. i couldnt click anything at my bottom bar, couldnt use start menu couldnt use task message it would open but then i couldnt use anything and once that happened my touch pad wouldnt work anymore. i ran scans and managed to unistall the video editing program and my lap top is still doing this everytime i sign in. i have an acer and i do not know what to do! it's only a month old!
