two fans to cool memory?

Setup:
P4 3.4Ghz EE 800Mhz FSB
ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe
2 Corsair TWINX 512MB 500Mhz (1GB)
2 Corsair TWINX 256MB 500Mhz (512MB)
ATI 800 XT Platinum Pro (AGP)
Koolance water cooled (CPU only)
Antec TruePower 550 Watt PS

I've successfully overclocked the FSB to 222 Mhz (888Mhz) which brings my RAM to 444 Mhz, CPU at 3.7Ghz. If I try to increase the FSB beyond 222Mhz, my system will fail 3DBenchMark2003. CPU temps are still below 100 degrees F, so I'm assuming either the chipset or memory is the limiting factor. I've added a fan to the chipset heat sink, but was wondering if I should go with a chipset water block? Also, would adding two fans above the 4 memory modules help?

Rob.

P.S. I have not adjusted voltage at all (auto)

He doesnt need that much V-core. Hes got a heat issue.

Adding fans to the memory may help at some point but memory doesnt get as hot as most people think that it does.

You probably are having a heat issue. The Northbridge really gets hot and water cooling it would be the way to go. You will need to go with a large resivior. You need to list all your compnents and their details such as model..... Also need to know if your OCing your video card. 3Dmark 03 can put alot of strain on the CPU. Is there a particular reason why your b enchmarking with 3DMark 03

It says in his original post that hes water cooling the CPU.

Ive got an 875 board and the NB gets blazing hot. Ask Crashman about his.

Im doing it and the temps are fine. Just needs a large resivior.

Yes, I do. The large resivor does the trick. It wont work if you use a small one. In that case you would be better off going to a 2 pump setup.

When water sits in the reserve, it only soaks up more and more ambiant heat.

Watter has a funny way of soaking up heat when everything around it is warmer and expelling it when everything around it is cooler.

Im sick and tired of arguing about every fuckjing thing.I dont know what type of container you use but mine does not ever get past a certain temp. More liquid is better and the temps stay lower.

I have a fan on top of the heat sink on the 875p chipset -- unfortunately the motherboard does NOT use screw holes but some hooks and clips -- so this is going to require some fabrication work to get a koolance Chipset water block on it.

Yes, I do have the CPU water cooled, like I said at 3.77 Ghz it runns at 90 degrees F under load -- well below it's heat limits.

My PowerSupply (Antec TruePower 550W 40A) seems good also, I've measure the Watt consumption under load and it maxes at 280 Watts -- about 50% capacity which is certainly acceptable.

Without the fan I put on the 875p chipset, the chipset would hit 150 degrees F under load, so the chipset is definitely a good candiate for water cooling.

I'm primarily doing all this overclocking to help out MS Flight Sim 2004 as it is the only game/sim I have that can bring my PC to it's knees (i.e. 2-3 fps). DOOM3 is nothing compared to the processing load that FS2004 can place on my PC -- I run 1600 X 1200.

I've thought about moving to SLI setup, but tested FS2004 on a SLI PC I recently built with AMD FX55 two 6800 Ultra OC's and was able to bring that system down to it's knees also with FS2004 (3-4 fps).

Don't get bent out of shape folk, thanks for the input.

Like I said earlier, I'll probably go with a 2nd external cooling unit from Koolance and dedicate that to my chipset and video card. The chipset does get VERY hot, well beyond threshold limits when the FSB runs over 220Mhz.

If you will PM me an e-mail addy i WILL send you some shots of my setup. It will give you an idea of what you are needing to do. Ive got the koolance enclosure with waterblock on my X800XL. Its a good piece of equipment.

I very seldom will make a prediction without testing more than we have, but I bet your MOBO is going to be the issue. Does your CPU have 512 L2 Cashe? I know some guys that have that same CPU, im going to see what they think.

L2 is 512K, L3 is 2MB.

I guess I'll find out the limit when I water cool the chipset and video card with 2nd water cooling system. But I suspect you are correct and the motherboard itself could be the limiting factor.

I'll toss in a SilverStone 600 Watt PS just to eliminate that possibility.
