screen freezes

every now and again when i click on something on my screen the screen freezes
and the only way i can get out of the problem is to ctrl/alt/delete fetch up
task manager select the program and then switch to.
this then allows my programs to work again.
i have checked for viruses but found nothing
help its driving me nuts

Check your event log for any indication of a problem. Check device
management that all is well. Make sure your device drivers are up to date
and compatible with your operating system. When the problem occurs try
opening task manager and check which processes is active at the time.
