USB & ME & Me

I'm trying to get a Dell P3 450 reformatted. The original O/S was 98SE. The owner (misguidedly in my opinion) wants ME. The keyboard & mouse are USB. I don’t have serial or parallel unit. The W98 boot disk does not seem to support USB. The hard drive is fdisked but my keyboard dies before I can type the <format c:> command. I tried to use a ME boot disk but it to is a no go. Can anyone help me install this (rather pathetic) O/S?

borrow a ps2 keyboard?
also, the setting for enabling a usb keyboard in dos should be in you bios.

go into bios and turn on usb legacy support if it has it
